Our Practices

EverSafe collects and recycles computers and other electronics using methods that have the environment in mind. We test and resell newer equipment so its useful life can be extended. We dismantle obsolete electronics and separate the materials so they can be refined back into a raw materials and used in new products. This process keeps electronic waste out of landfills where it takes up space and contaminates the soil and groundwater with dangerous substances like mercury and lead. It also helps reduce energy intensive and environmentally damaging activities like mining and oil drilling by reducing the need for virgin raw materials. We do not send any of the waste we process to a landfill, and we pay close attention to the energy and other resources we consume as a business.

EverSafe Recycling has a self imposed ban on the export of non-working electronics and electronic components, and we only send these items to downstream vendors that do the same. We feel it is extremely important to prevent any of the hazardous waste we dispose of from being processed under dangerous conditions in third world countries where people are often subjected to unhealthy work environments that wreak havoc on the health of both the workers and the neighboring communities.

EverSafe is taking steps to become certified under the Basel Action Network’s e-Stewards certification. While this is a very intense process, we are making it our goal to get the certification in mid-2011. We feel it’s important to prove to our customers that we’re living up to our claims of environmental stewardship.
